Climate Change Lead School

White Mere have been going green this week as we have learnt about how changes in climate can affect communities around the world. Our assemblies this week have focussed on places such as Nicaragua , Bangladesh and Mozambique. We learnt about how increased flooding, rises in temperature, along with other extreme weather conditions can be linked to carbon emissions. As a Climate Change Lead School we are considering what we can do to help the situation. A Climate Action Team will be selected by Miss Sykes and will meet regularly to discuss new initiatives.

Northumbria Police Anti-social Behaviour Campaign

Y6 were visited by the Northumbria Community Support Officers recently. They highlighted the issues of anti-social behaviour within the community. Y6 will be entering a competition in order to make a short film about the subject - the winning entry is eligible for £1000 worth of media equipment - an excellent prize so fingers crossed!

Cyberbullying Workshop

Y6 Girls were able to discuss the issue of Cyberbullying at a workshop recently. They made friendship bracelets and thought about ways in which they could raise awareness of the subject throughout the school. It certainly is an exciting project to be involved in.
